The MSME sector is largely disorganised and faced with number structural handicaps, including: lack of modern business tools to help manage and grow their businesses; lack of access to formal banking services like bank accounts, overdraft facilities, credit cards and loans; lack of knowledge and business management skills; low salaries especially among women; and low job security.
